Having made socks for a while now I am always faced with dilemma of what size sock will fit someone who takes a particular size shoe. It would be very easy to draw up a chart based on the length of the shoe but we are not making socks to fit a shoe. Shoe lengths vary according to fashion and style.
So we are back to feet. We have to consider not only the foot length but most important is the foot width. A wide foot will spread a narrow sock, decreasing the length of it and vice versa.
I thought I would make a chart for sock knitters so they will know for example - Someone who takes X size shoes and has wide feet will need a pair of socks measuring Y inches in the foot.
The photo of a pair of feet has different points marked on it and I would be very grateful if readers could please measure their feet and let me know their shoe size US,UK,EU and the measurements I have marked on the photograph.
